Hi guys
I have read on a blog that the Dev Alpha and the real device which will be released at the end of Jan. should have different screen resolutions. (1.280 x 768 , 1.280 x 720)
Do you know anything about this?

The first one is the odd man out it will be as you mentioned 1280 x 768 going forward here is what we have said:
“We’ve listened, we’ve learned, and we are now telling you that moving forward new smartphones will be standardizing on the following screen resolutions which will allow you to design your applications to fit two main form factors: Full touch devices: 1280 x 720 (16:9), Keyboard devices: 720 x720 (1:1).” - Tim Niel

Aspect Ratio is the main thing
Dev Alpha = 1.66
Playbook = 1.71
Release = 1.78
It also depends on the square-ness of the pixels - many devices have pixels that are squished one way or another
I've got the same app running on Dev Alpha and PlayBook and the AR only causes a few small issues - one image looks different between the two devices.
Dynamically sizing everything works well. The app I mention above would naturally be 1280 x 1024 for the main content plus I need about 20% screen for info.
The result of this sizing is that although it looks a little different between devices it works on all of them so nobody knows its not exactly as designed
I test using a 640x375 browser

Same app - 3 devices (the DA is real)
My non-existant artistic skills meant I had to throw together something to see how it looked (guess which bit of art I did <g>)
All three apps are very close visually other than the fixed image - its the only obvious variant
The PB does look exactly as pictured even though simulated (broken USB on PB - can't grab)
Y'see - as long as you keep everything consistant it all works out
