Does the SignatureTool itself freeze (not respond to any UI events like clicking of buttons, closing, etc...) or does it stop receiving signatures? If it stops receiving signatures, what status does it show in the SignatureTool window for the pending signature requests? What OS are you running on?

Do you have UAC disabled? Are the files you are trying to sign located in a "Documents" type directory and not under Program Files? What version of JDK are you running (run "java -version" from a command prompt and post the output)?

I think ive found the solution. The signaturetool does not support java jdk version 1.7. The signingtool is working quite slow, but its not freezing like it did before. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the update. We'll investigate this further internally.

Hello, I am having the same problem.
Did you just uninstall the jdk1.7 version and then it worked?
When I uninstall jdk1.7 and adjust my PATH and JAVA_HOME environment variables to the jdk6.27 then bbwp.exe will not run. It gives the error 'Cannot find java.exe'. And my webworks visual studio plugin gives the error 'CreateCodFile failed.'
I'm a seasoned web developer, but new to working with anything java related. Does anyone have any insight?

That should do it. If you type "java -version" from a command line, does it display any version information?
Can you post your PATH and JAVA_HOME?

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. This is a high priority issue for me.
I'm running WinXP. When I uninstall 1.7 both bbwp and visual studio plugin fail to work. When I have 1.7 installed everything works except for the sig tool.
I have both fiels populated with:
I also tried:
I really appreciate any help.

I installed 1.7 again so I could get back to my development, but I did try to run java -version from the cmd line and it populated as expected with
java version "184.108.40.206" or something close to that. It definitely returned an expected result of the version number. Just bbwp and visual studio plugin can't run it for some reason.
Only problem is I need to sign the apps so I can start testing on the devices.

JAVA_HOME should not include the bin directory or a semi colon at the end. Remove that and give it a go.
