The end of the PlayBook?

There are rumours in the UK press that PlayBook production is about to stop

The PB got a really good review in this month's PC Pro finishing off with the comment that they're really good (9./10) and something you should RUN to the shop to buy before supplies cease

[RIM] Mark or Tim comments welcome

The review (round-up of tabs) placed PB second (we all know who won)

It is stated in this article that while production may cease software development will not

[RIM] Mark or Tim comments welcome

Personally I love the PlayBook

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

Strange... I hope those rumors are false. I'm going to buy a PlayBook before the BlackBerry 10 Jam São Paulo because it's a really awesome tablet and because RIM is the only one that really cares about their developers.

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

My feelings exactly

I want my PlayBook!

It is far superior to my iPad3

I'm off to the Jam in London next week so I'll grab a RIM-body and check the rumours out

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

I have a lot of tablets here, including the iPad 3, the Kindle Fire and the Galaxy Tab, but seriously developing for those is very difficult (I use PhoneGap so I can use all my HTML5 knowledge to make the things easier, but it's still a difficult task to make the app feel native), also the PlayBook interface is far superior in my opinion.

iOS have a really beautiful UI, but the UX isn't very good if you're a power user. Android tablets are very bad because there are just a few apps that are really optimized for the large screen, also battery drains very fast and it lags a lot, even if you have a Tegra device.

The PlayBook is far superior than any other tablet out in the market. Awesome UI/UX don't matter if you're a power user or not, awesome apps and the perfect form factor.

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

It's not the aesthetics - it's the payback

My own PB apps bring me in little money - I have them merely so I can help others

My friends earn thousand a month

Simple fact - incoming money for the same product on any platform... PlayBook beats any tab by about 10x

I have the numbers (I know what my mates make)

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

The PB has been EOL for some time now, so guess it is only natural to not produce this model any longer, taking into account that there is rumored a new PB model to come out end of the year - or at least thats what I heard at CES.

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

One of the worst kept secrets is that they have a WiFi PB in development (one got sold on eBay)

I find this confusing

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

With all the **bleep** news the media have been releasing about RIM you still believe it?

The only thing that was reported recentely was that RIM ceased the production of the 16Gb PlayBook, to focus on the 32 and 64Gb models.

Really, this is people who have no clue. If you are even slightly aware of the efforts that its being put into the development of BB10 (and the playbook) this makes no sense at all.

Don't spread FUD. There's enough in the mass media :smileyhappy:

Re: The end of the PlayBook?

The BlackBerry PlayBook has not been discontinued.  RIM is going to stop selling the 16 GB model, but the 32 and 64 GB models remain.
