Twit Off!

Some marketing 'guru' just decided to email me a load of stuff (you've all had it I guess)

Can they check I'm actually in twitter to start with?

I realize that FB + Twit are a requirement of modern biz practice but I don't want spam about it

For junior developers this may be a good idea, for me it's just more trash to junk every day

Is anyone else as upset as I am that we're being spammed?

Mark - an official response would be cool - sorry

Re: Twit Off!

Mmmhh. Double post, isn't it peardox? Nevertheless I haven't got any spam right now from a marketing "guru". What was it about?

Re: Twit Off!

peardox, just report it is as spam on twitter, twitter will take care of it. Simple.

I don't understand the big deal.

Re: Twit Off!

Read the post

To get it pulled I have to sign up to twitter

It's a circuar issue. As Groucho once said 'I wouln't wanna be a member of any club that would accept me'

While Forums and suchlike are clubs I like Groucho is correct

I'm not gonna join twitter just to remove myself from it...

Re: Twit Off!

You are on twitter and you are a follower of RIM, isn't it, so Twitter wants to make some money with advertising IMO.

Re: Twit Off!

This is exactly why I hate social media

It's a big gossip column

I never signed up to the damned thing (I never would)

I suffer FB for my friends

Re: Twit Off!

You actually did post this twice, the moderators have already deleted the duplicate thread.

Anyway, you're supposedly a developer, and RIM is sending you developer updates.

If you don't like it, unsubscribe.

Or you'd rather just fuss?

Re: Twit Off!

I can go away very easily

The simple fact is that if you click the submit button twice you get a double submission

Same happens on GitHub

Re: Twit Off!

Go away? Why do that?

If you post the exact same thread/post in these forums, within something like 3600 seconds (I don't recall the exact number) you will get a warning of post flooding and it won't post. The second post must be different in some character in the post, or after some amount of time. Anyway, it's not a big deal that you did. It's been deleted.

Why don't you let RIM know you want to unsubscribe from their developer relations emails, rather than complaining about it here? I mean, posting about it here won't get you unsubscribed. And hitting the Delete key won't overwork your finger. :smileywink:
