Re: UI Toolkit in the Default Calculator, Will it Be Available for Developers

Personally, I don't like to use the frameworks (jquery, sencha, etc...).

Anyone else feel the same way? Maybe a small group of us could create a UI toolkit for the non-framework developers? I'm willing to put some time into this once I get a playbook in my hand and have a chance to look at what RIM has done for the home brewed apps on the device.

Re: UI Toolkit in the Default Calculator, Will it Be Available for Developers

If your app is larger than something really simple it barely makes sense anymore NOT to use a framework. Not necessarily a whole GUI toolkit but I'd strongly recommend to at least use a framework like plain JQuery, YUI, Dojo, Prototype.js etc. because it really helps a lot.

With UI frameworks it really depends on preference and also on what you're doing. I used JQuery Mobile in two apps but only plain JQuery with a custom made GUI in another. I wouldn't want to use nothing at all. At the very bare minimum I'd use a DOM manipulation library. Without one your code gets a lot more verbose.

Of course this is all just opinion...

Hey, TheMarco, I just wanted to drop a note in this thread and let you know that I really appreciated your little code snippet. I haven't had much time to play with it yet, but it's in my queue of things to explore. Thank you. :smileyhappy:
