WebWorks <audio> and <video> not working, amongst others…

Hi, I'm struggling to get anything but the simplest of web applications running on the PlayBook sim. I can't get <audio> or <video> tags to work with any file formats locally or remotely. I can also see no way of actually debugging running code. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Luke

Re: WebWorks <audio> and <video> not working, amongst others…

for what its worth, I was trying to use embed after these failed and it didn't work either.  I assumed it was just a limitation of the simulator as I can't find any method or file format to work.  I tried both tags and also tried .mp3, .m4a, .ogg, and .wav sound files.  Which VMWare are you using?  I'm wondering if there may be a difference between VMWare Player and VMWare Fusion that is causing it.

Re: WebWorks <audio> and <video> not working, amongst others…

Good morning,

This is a known issue with the 0.9.2 simulator that has been reported and is being repaired by our internal development teams.  I expect this will be fixed in a future version of the PlayBook sim.

Sincerely,

Adam

Any idea on timeframe of the fix? It's pretty hard to make HTML5 web-apps with no HTML5 support…

Rizer -- I am on VMWare Fusion on a Mac as well.

Adam -- Thanks for the heads up!  Glad to hear its not just a mac issue.

And do you have any suggestions while its being worked on for testing apps?  I'd have to agree that its kind of hard to develop a webapp without some webapp technologies...  Is there a way that you would suggest testing an app (hardware or simulator) in the mean time?

*bump*

Any progress with this? I am using HTML5 audio in my webapp and it works perfectly in a regular browser but I don't get sound in the emulator or on the phisical device.
