Widget Development on Windows 7 64bit (bbwp.exe [ERROR] Failed to run launch java.exe.)

Hi,

when I try to run bbwp.exe on a Windows 7 64bit system I get the following error:

[ERROR] Failed to run launch java.exe.

java.exe is in the system PATH variable. I know that Win7 64 bit is described as "not supported".

Any details why? Are there workarounds?

Cheers,

Nirf

Is the JDK 1.6 version you have installed the 32bit or 64bit version.

We have seen better results with the 32bit version of the JDK.

Re: Widget Development on Windows 7 64bit (bbwp.exe [ERROR] Failed to run launch java.exe.)

Hi,

You need to modify the bbwp.properties file, under the bin directory, and change the "java" element to point to your JDK installation.

Cheers,

Alex

[ Edited ]

You will also find the following issues on Windows 7 64

- To close the simulator, you will have to terminate the "fledge.exe" process using Task Manager.  We are addressing this with the RTM of the Visual Studio and Eclipse tooling

- MDS has some problems with UAC.  On install, it was placed on the system with Administrator file permissions and the files were marked read-only.  When running the MDS this causes it to not function properly.  If you change permissions on the MDS directory to Everyone and remove the read-only flag it will function properly.

Re: Widget Development on Windows 7 64bit (bbwp.exe [ERROR] Failed to run launch java.exe.)

Hi,

agerman77's suggestion worked for me. I modified the bbwp.properties file. It was really pointing to the wrong path of the JDK.

Cheers,

Siya.

Change the bbwp.properties. The error will diseappear.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<extension_repository>ext</extension_repository>
