Hi miamon,
I'm glad you liked my presentation ![]()
There isn't a Beta available yet.. but you can be assured that we are working like crazy to try and get something into your hands as soon as possible. We should be releasing more and more information about widgets over the upcoming months. I for one am REALLY excited about what this will bring to the community.
You will likely be able to get your hands on a beta of a command line utility for creating widgets before the full tooling plug-ins become available so that way you will be able to get started.
For those of you wondering what the heck we are talking about.. it has started to be picked up through some various blogs and some examples can be found here:

Hi mukesh,
We have not yet released the widget development tooling. Widgets will be supported on the 5.0 operating system and up. While the Java development Beta is available for 5.0, we haven't released the Widget development beta as of yet. We are working very hard to get this released to the public as soon as possible.
Here is another thread on the topic that has some answers and a link to the presentation I did at WES

Thank you very much Tim, for the update!

Hello,
I expect that those Widgets won't run without signing on the device. Is that right?
Thank you.

mmm...
Torch Mobile has widgets
http://www.torchmobile.com/products/widgets.html
These widgets run on MS Mobile 6.5
RIM buys Torch Mobile
Rim now has Widgtes.
Mobile 6.5 implements this Widget standard
http://www.w3.org/TR/2008/WD-widgets-20081222/
So all we really need to know is: Does Torch Mobile Widgets implement the W3C standard.
If so for now we can play using VS Mobile toolkit until Rim releases theirs. No blackberry APIs but its a start.
Regards

I wouldn't necessarily jump to too many conclusions around Torch widgets and either thier inclusion or exclusion of support on the BlackBery. BlackBerry widgets are their own specification based on the W3C widget spec.
