I have asp.net project and try to browse my page with blackberry browser. Blackberry browser is not in the browser list. How do I add it?

The following developer knowledge base articles explain how to add a profile for the BlackBerry Browser.

Re: asp.net browse with

The BlackBerry Browser can now be used to test a web application from within Microsoft Visual Studio.  This feature has been added in the new beta release of the BlackBerry Plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio, which can be downloaded here:  http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/devbeta.jsp#tab_tab_plugin_for_vs

You can see a video of this here:  http://www.blackberry.com/DevMediaLibrary/view.do?name=aspdebug

Re: asp.net browse with

This is great! Is there a document that outlines how to use this plug-in? In other words, how to buidl a simple "Hello World" web page for the bb browser?

thanks

Re: asp.net browse with

The process for developing a web page for a BlackBerry Browser is no different than a standard web browser.  However, if you are looking for information on what is supported within the BlackBerry Browser and how to optimize your content, please see the BlackBerry Browser - Content Developer Guide found here:

Re: asp.net browse with

To save yourself a whole world of pain.  In Microsoft Visual Studio they have a Mobile Web Form which gives you access to mobile web controls.  I recommend you use these as they will save you a lot of time on rendering issues :smileyhappy:

Other notes, if you are using a BES depending on how your Network Administrator has set it up, you will have access to your local intranet.  Publishing an app is as simple as placing it on IIS and navigating to that location on your BlackBerry Browser (again pending your setup of your network).

The negative is the amount of phone calls you will begin to receive after demo'ing what you can do :smileywink:

Re: asp.net browse with

Thanks you for you replys. So, I did get it work. I am able to browse to an internal application using a BB successfully. But here is a strange issue.

I am basically dealing with two Visual Studio projects, one is a general MDSApplication which I have only created to use the built-in BB Simulator for VS 2008, and the second is the actual web application. In development, when browsing to my internal VS IIS Server (e.g. http://localhost:1234/WebSite1/BBTest.aspx) the device identifies itself as a BB through a variety of properties, like Request.Browser.Browser = "BlackBerry". HOWEVER, once I publish the exact same web site to our production web server, the BB does not show anylonger that it is a BB. Everything in dev which identified the client as a BB now shows either "unknown" or simply nothing at all.

Any ideas?

thanks

You may need to configure your production environment to support the BlackBerry Browser.  Please see the links below for more information.

Re: asp.net browse with

Thanks for the quick response. I did make all necessary modification to the BB and the web server by registering the BlackBerry.browser file. Unfortunately, I am still not able to identify the client as a BB browser.

The resulst of

Request.Browser.Browser = unknown

Request.Browser.IsMobileDevice = False
