dropdown onblur event

onblur event is not firing on my blackberry curve. The OS version is 4.5 The device model 8330. onblur event fires for text boxes but not for dropdowns. Any help appreciated.

the onblur event is not fired when the script is in an external js file. It fires when the script is included in the page
