footer fixed on Bottom

Hi! I am having trouble in fixing the footer to the bottom of my screeen, I am using BB 9800 simulator, the footer is fixed in FF but in BB 6 browser. It scroll and then jump to the bottom which is looking very bad.

I am using this property to fixed it.

.stickybottom
{
 positioned: static;
 bottom: 0em;
 width:100%;
}

I have checked the reference post,

It contain java files, no html or css file, I am building WebApp which will be installed on BB using javascript,css and html.

Re: footer fixed on Bottom

Its a problem with the type of scrolling that the browser performs - the proposed solution is to fade the footer out as it scrolls and then fade it back in when it stops.

Cheers

Re: footer fixed on Bottom

right now I am testing it in browser, so I can't use the BB javascript api to detect scrolling.

Yes as far i know, till now, you cannot put any footer or header fixed position in you application, it's still one of the webworks issue. The better way to handle this is using Javascript extension like the reference above.

Re: footer fixed on Bottom

Or design your application around the limitations of the platform, I tried to have a header and footer fixed position - but eventually changed it so that its on the left and right hand sides.

One idea would be to fade the footer out on touch start and fade it in on touch end, unless its the footer itself that is touched. The unintended consequence would be to display all content to a user on touch, but that's not necersarily a bad thing.

Re: footer fixed on Bottom

Yes, I trying fading in and out trick to handle it, but scroll start and scroll end events are not working, I am testing it in playbook simulator, and have used the sample code referenced abobe "toolbar.bar".

I am checking it by placing alerts in scroll end and start events

// Make the toolbars invisible during scrolling
function startScroll() {
alert('scrool start');
    topBar.style.display = 'none';
    bottomBar.style.display = 'none';
}

Its doesn't give alert

I have to remove this line from config.xml, because it was generating error when compiling into .bar, I don't know is the srcoll event is not working due to it or not.

<rim:cache disableAllCache="false" aggressiveCacheAge="2592000" maxCacheSizeTotal="1024" maxCacheSizeItem="128" />

the "blackberry.ui.event" winrar file exist in ext folder and i have not extracted it, is it the problem?

Re: footer fixed on Bottom

        blackberry.ui.event.onScrollStart(startScroll);
        blackberry.ui.event.onScrollEnd(endScroll);

these events are not working, I am testing on Tneil's sample code.
