problem with html5 Input types

Hi everyone!

I'm using some HTML5 input types but have 2 problems at the moment:

  • the number input type works great, except that it doesn't allow you to add negative numbers (at least, not in an easy way). is there an option to include a negative sign key in the "numbers" keyboard?
  • the date input type is also working ok, except that I can't set a default value. tried with different date formats, but always get an empy value.

thanks!

Nuno

[ Edited ]

sorry, I forgot to add that this happens in the PlayBook, not on the phones

Re: problem with html5 Input types

Is this on 2.1.0 beta you are seeing it?

Just saw and escalated this issue: https://www.blackberry.com/jira/browse/TABLET-623

Re: problem with html5 Input types

Hi Tim,
Yes, 2.1beta, but the same think was happening on 2.0 (the numeric keyboard doesn't have the '-' sign or '.' (dots)

I got the date problem solved, turned out webkit is quite peculiar with dates. only accepts in YYYY-MM-DD format (YYYY/MM/DD doesn't work).

thanks!

Re: problem with html5 Input types

Okay - I also forgot to mention that you could try using the telephone type for a "numeric" field that accepts a '-' character until we get this fixed.

Re: problem with html5 Input types

Any word on fixing this issue?

It's a definite UX issue for some web and WebWorks apps for PlayBook...

I don't see any activity on https://www.blackberry.com/jira/browse/TABLET-623
