From: Overview In this tutorial, you use Adobe® Flash Builder® “Burrito” and Adobe® Flex® “Hero” to build a simple, yet fully functional employee directory application for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet. “Burrito” is the code name for the next version of Flash Builder, and “Hero” is the code name for the next version of the Flex SDK. You don’t need a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to complete this tutorial: you can use the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet simulator to run and debug the application. If you attempt to install without administrator privileges, the installation will complete, but you will not be able to run Flash Builder. 3. Close all browsers and applications currently running on your system—including other Adobe applications, chat applications and Microsoft® Office applications. It is also recommended to temporarily turn off virus protection during the installation process. 4. Start the installer you downloaded in step 1: double-click flashbuilder_burrito_287807.exe (Windows) or flashbuilder_burrito_287807.dmg (Mac) 5. Accept the user license agreement. When prompted, either enter your existing Flash Builder 4 serial number or install the product as a trial. 6. Select a language if not selected. To: Installing Flash Builder Burrito 1. From: Installing the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK The BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK can be installed “standalone” or as a plug-in on top of Flash Builder Burrito. In this tutorial, we use the plug-in approach for an integrated development environment. 1. Download the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK Beta 2 for Adobe AIR for your operating system at http://us.blackberry.com/developers/tablet/ 2. Start the installer: • On Windows®, double-click BlackBerryTabletSDK-Air-Installer-0.9.1-Win.exe • On Mac, unzip BlackBerryTabletSDK-Air-Installer-0.9.1-Mac.zip, and run the installer 3. Accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next. 4. On the Integration with Adobe Flash Builder screen, select Yes and click Next. 5. On the Choose Install Folder screen, do *not* accept the default folder which points to a typical Flash Builder 4 location. Instead, provide the location of Flash Builder Burrito (4.5) and Click Next. The default location of Flash Builder Burrito is: • Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito • Mac: /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder Burrito 6. On the Choose Adobe AIR SDK Install Folder screen, provide the location of the Adobe AIR 2.5 SDK and click Next. The default location is: • Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\4.5.0 • Mac: /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder Burrito/sdks/4.5.0 7. On the Pre-Installation Summary screen, verify your installation settings and click Install. To: Installing the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK The BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK can be installed “standalone” or as a plug-in on top of Flash Builder Burrito. On the Insall Folder screen, please select the detault folder for installing the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK. 8. The BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet simulator will be located in the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK folder and will be in Development Mode upon launch. The initial password for the PlayBook Simulator is "playbook". 9. On the Pre-Installation Summary screen, verify your installation settings and click Install.
