Doing some accelerometer experiments to have fine grained tilt control of on screen objects, I notice the Dev Alpha gets warm with a 16ms sample interval set on the accelerometer. There are other things going on in my experimental app, but I think the accelerometer reads are the highest frequency event (I set them at 16ms sampling rate to match 60fps for the SWF).
Are accelerometer reads known to be expensive in terms of power drain?
I'm thinking I may want to time-filter the raw accelerometer data and try to detect if the user has set the device down, in order to throttle the sample rate until they pick it up again, if the accelerometer reads are indeed power hungry.
