BlackBerry Playbook SDK

Hello,

is there something like the BlackBerry JDE/JDKs but for the Playbook or do I need to buy any other Software to develop Apps for the Playbook?

What do I need to write a hello world app for the playbook?

Thanks!

Re: BlackBerry Playbook SDK

Thanks, been there. But do I need to buy any software like Adobe or so? Why does it have to be so complicated?

Will RIM bring their own dev tools?

Re: BlackBerry Playbook SDK

As far as I could see, you don't need any paid tool.

Reading other threads I could see people using Eclipse and command-line tools to make it work.

I'm not sure about VMWare Player though. Although you can freely download it without limitation, the license says its for non-commercial use.

Re: BlackBerry Playbook SDK

Regarding the "non-commercial use" of VM Ware...wouldn't most people start off with a free app and then as they get better start to charge for them? Least that's how it makes sense in my mind but of course it probably won't happen that way...

Re: BlackBerry Playbook SDK

Any chance Adobe+Rim will get to update the tools to create apps for the PlayBook without requiring VMWare VMFusion? I'm on a Mac and my 30 days are ticking and I can't even get started due to Adobe Eclipse plugin errors like: An internal error occurred during: "Creating Adobe Flash Player trust file...".com/adobe/flexbuilder/project/playertrust/IPlayerTrustEvent - I know about using  -d32 (doesn't work on mac however), - it should just be fixed to work in 64bit environments.

Basically I can't recommend developing for the PlayBook yet, too many obstacles.
