Can I send a charged app to someone as a free gift

Hi all,

I have a charged PlayBook app in app world and I'd like to send to someone of my friend as a free gift. Is it possible? I remember someone asked the similar question here several days ago, but can not find it.

Thanks.

It is my understanding that gifting of application(s) or subscriptions through AppWorld is not yet possible, though it has been suggested many times.

You can create a sandbox account. It worked for me:
Log in to the vendor portal and klick Sandbox on the right.
Then just enter the Mail address of the desired person (This has to be the exact mail which they use as their Blackberry Account to buy your product). The whole process looks as if the person has to buy the product (including Paypalwindows, etc...) but they won't be charged for it in the end.

It's just too bad that a process such as that is not available outside the developer community.

What has been done in other app stores is to allow the developer to generate coupon codes which can be given to others for them to obtain the application for free.  This is useful for running compeitions or giveaways as well as to allow friends and testers to download your app.  I hope we see this in AppWorld soon.

Thanks. I have to make use of SandBox in Vendor portal. It seems to be the only way currently.

Exactly! But it will be a complex job for vendor portal or app world to implement such process. We can not expect RIM quick and agile enough.
