You should place the name of your .swf file inside of the <content> tags, like so:

 

<content>AppName.swf</content>

Thanks again I figured it out right after I posted that ? so I did finally get a real bar file... although I still can't get it to install and load on the simulator. The three little loading circles keep moving but it never comes up *sigh

 

...this help has definitely made me less shy/unsure about asking my, possibly silly, questions. I used to just try and find if someone asked already and just have to give up if I didn't see my question anywhere. This is truly a great developer community.
