Yes, as of 0.9.3 the simulator has included a browser, and we've been able to do that using the technique JRab showed in the second post of this thread. This only worked for opening a web page when the browser was not already open, but did nothing useful if it was open. (We assume that was a bug.)
Unfortunately, that approach is broken in 0.9.4, and as none of this has been documented or discussed by RIM/QNX people, we can only assume it will work properly in the final version. For now, you can't use 0.9.4 for testing this.

Did anybody already succeed in launching a browser and navigating to a URL from within the code? I have the following code:
var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(_myField.url); navigateToURL(urlRequest);
in which _myField.url is a string field.
This doesn't launch the webbrowser, not in the simulator (2.0.0) and not on the tablet itself.
I also tried to use QNXStageWebView, but also no success...

On SDK 2.0 (first time i treid it) this works perfectly for me. In flash builder, on the sim, and on the playbook.
where myLink is a string formatted like "http://www.google.com"
