Fixing orientation

During the webinar today, they mentioned you can fix the orientation of your application so that it does not try to change orientation and size if the PB is turned.  How is that done?  I assume it is in the -app.xml file, but none of the tags scream out to set for this.

Re: Fixing orientation

In <initialWindow> are these two:

<autoOrients>false</autoOrients>
<aspectRatio>portrait</aspectRatio>
That should do what you want.

[ Edited ]

hey john,

Colin is correct. It seems since i've installed the burrito update it created a different -app.xml file (contains the new orientation tags) than the one Flash Builder 4 (no orientation tags) was creating. I dont know if it has something to do with the new Tablet SDK or with the Flex Hero SDK but those tags were not available in the previous version of Flash Builder.

here's an -app.xml file from a sample app in case you want to compare it to yours:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="no"?>
<application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.5">

			of the AIR runtime required for this application to run.

			the application. Optional.
-->

	<!-- A universally unique application identifier. Must be unique across all AIR applications.

	<versionNumber>0.0.0</versionNumber>

Re: Fixing orientation

I'm setting:

<width>1024</width>

<height>600</height>

Hope that will do the trick.

<autoOrients>false</autoOrients>

Re: Fixing orientation

Or not.  Setting the width and height screws up the AIR application.  Hopefully the autoOrients is all I need.

Re: Fixing orientation

There are other related issues, such as what scaling mode you have set the stage to use. From the numbers you gave, you probably want to set nothing other than the stage width and height, and then autoOrients to false, and aspectRatio to landscape.

Re: Fixing orientation

I did not see aspectRation in @jrab's example, but I will set:

<autoOrients>false</autoOrients>

<aspectRatio>landscape</aspectRatio>

For my project.  Thanks all.

Re: Fixing orientation

Yes, that's odd that aspectRatio isn't in there. I hardly know about AIR at all, but I know about packaging for mobile, and maybe aspectRatio only comes up with mobile.
