Flash Development for PB: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

[ Edited ]

I'm developing a game in Flash CS5 with the air 2.5 extension

When i test my game, flash creates 3 files

-monkey.swf

-monkey-app.xml

-textLayout_1.0.0.595.swz

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\blackberry-tablet-sdk-0.9.1\bin\blackberry-airpackager.bat" -package monkey.bar -installApp -launchApp monkey.swf monkey-app.xml -device 192.168.132.128

when I try to package and install the game i get this error:

Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

it was working yesterday but it's not today and I cant figure out why. I searched the forum and only found this which isnt working for me:

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Tablet-OS-SDK-for-Adobe-AIR/Error-with-Hello-world-app/m-p/67...

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Re: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

Is the IP address to the PB correct?

Did you change the icon in some way (forgot it in the CLI, change file path under /src)?

Are you debugging back to your computer and that IP has changed?

Re: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

Yes the IP address is correct.

I didnt change any icon path, I'm not referencing any icon in the CLI so it was using the default blackberry icon yesterday and working fine.

I even reinstalled the SDK to rule out the possibility that the SDK might have been corrupted somehow.

I'm not debugging back to my computer. I'm not sure what that means or how to do that...

Sorry I'm not very experienced in programming...

How about the application XML file (*-app.xml).  Anything changed there?

Re: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

Is this your first app you're testing in the simulator?

Have you tried the HelloWorld application to see if its the environment, simulator or your IDE.

Let's step back and see where something might be broken.

Re: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

Yes this is my first.

I just created a simple helloWorld app in flash (contains no actionscript or anything, simply says hello world). Exported to .swf and .xml files

Tried to package to .bar and I'm getting the same error.

So its not a problem with my game. Could it be a problem with the settings on the simulator? I will try this on another computer to see if its a problem with the environment or if its my computer.

Re: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

I tried this on another computer, but I'm getting the same error.

I think the problem may be with the export settings in flash for adobe air.

Anyone doing flash development for playbook know what setting may cause this?

Re: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

I made a simple hello world flash movie:

-the xml:

http://www.mediafire.com/?2ekzpb1928amhrf

-the swf:

http://www.mediafire.com/?bf2f9uii1h1xksb

but when I try to package it using the blackberry-airpackager:

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\blackberry-tablet-sdk-0.9.1\bin\blackberry-airpackager.bat" -package helloWorld.bar -installApp -launchApp helloWorld.swf helloWorld-app.xml -device 192.168.132.128

I get this error:

Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence.

Does anyone know why I'm getting this?

Can you try to package them on your computer to see if it works for you? I would really appreciate it, I've been stuck at this for 3 days.

Re: Error: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence

Try this if it helps.

Use:

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\blackberry-tablet-sdk-0.9.1\bin\blackberry-airpackager.bat" -package monkey.bar -installApp -launchApp monkey-app.xml monkey.swf -device 192.168.132.128

instead of:

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\blackberry-tablet-sdk-0.9.1\bin\blackberry-airpackager.bat" -package monkey.bar -installApp -launchApp monkey.swf monkey-app.xml -device 192.168.132.128

interchange the position of the parameters and it should work.

let me know if it works.
