Flex Mobile Project: Using ActionScript for Programming?

[ Edited ]

Is there any way to use MXML UI designer and ActionScript for programming?

It looks like it will work really well, if it works.

Yes you can and yes it is for regular Flex and AIR development, but the QNX controls do not currently support MXML.

The first part of the video was all AS files.  The end part of the video did use MXML but did not use QNX controls.

Re: Flex Mobile Project: Using ActionScript for Programming?

Speaking of QNX controls... I have refactored my application (gave up on Flex) into AS3 and at the same time used all "native" Flash controls (i want to keep the app as generic for potential release to other devices) and seems to work. But the thought of what I am giving up by not using QNX controls is in the back of my mind... ? Are you able to explain what are the benefits of qnx controls vs flash?

You will lose the native look and feel of the Playbook and the default font and theme. This will make your app stand out from the rest, but not in a good way imho. I recommend you use the QNX controls and just change the imports if you want to port it to another device.
