Re: HelloWorld Example with MX/Spark components

@jtegen

Built this samples under 4.5 last night, got interesting results

Sprinte based - 127kb, WindowedApplication 900kb, MobileApplicaiton(with one view) 1150kb!!!

But we should understand that 763kb of difference will have minimal impact when app will be big. Bacasue this is just size of SWC with Spark components.

Re: HelloWorld Example with MX/Spark components

Also, I (and I guess you) had this all in debug mode, which can be 30-40% larger too (depending on your application).  I will probably stick with the Sprite root class method mainly because of resources.  More consumption of resources may impact battery life.  See we have no specs on the battery life on this, one of the key comparisons this device will have against iPad will be battery life.

Same here, all in debug mode, I dont think I can see SWF size in release, unless I unzip bar file and check the size of swf inside.

You said to stick to Sprite as root element, I would say to avoid any mx.* and spark.* UI components otherwise compiler will include lost of stuff from those libraries causing app to grow substantially.... but are we ready for this kind of sacrifice ? Smiley Happy
