Listener app and auto launch

How would one set up listeners or have an app sleeping in the background so that we can interact with hardware triggered events and have that auto launch when the device is powered up? registering apps as system modules with auto launch I believe is how it was done in the previous OS.

Re: Listener app and auto launch

There has been no discussion of auto-start application on power up.  Probably will occur, just no mention in how that would work.  There also has been discussion that an application can be a "service", but no public comments in how that would work.

Re: Listener app and auto launch

Curious if this issue has been addressed in the latest releases of the SDK and Simulator?

Re: Listener app and auto launch

It has not.  There has been many questions around this including:

  • Auto start
  • Pop to foreground
  • Knowing running apps
  • Roster of app ID for communication

This will probably be available at some point, just not now.
