My recently released apps

Hey fellow devs,

How are your development efforts going?  I have released a few apps recently that have been both fun to make and have received positive feedback from users:

- Picasa Sync: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/63312

- Flickr Sync: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/65677

- SmugMug Sync: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/64285

And today I was excited to see that my iTunes Sync app was approved:

Even though these are very simple apps, I think they do their job well, and I hope they are received by the community as a notable addition to the PlayBook's capabilities. I've always loved the idea of doing wireless updating of my mobile devices, perhaps others are the same way.

I have some interest in creating a site or forum post where a list of "major use cases" can be kept -- things that lots of people wish they could do on their PlayBook, but for which there are no apps, or the apps that exist are sorely lacking in polish, etc.  I think it could be fun to have a list like that and as a place for devs to consider what their next project is. You know, work together for the greater good of the community.

What do people think about that idea?

Maybe we could also share bits of source code with one another.

Re: My recently released apps

It would be nice to know how people use the device. I am getting emails regarding Magellan Compass that people are using it as an in-car GPS device. So 3.0 will have features that support that use case better. Great idea.

Re: My recently released apps

If you want to know what your users want and how they are using the app, there is one great solution: ask them!

I've found that users respond very well to prompts and e-mails asking them about the app and what improvements they'd like to see.

How do you get your users' e-mail addresses?  The only way I've had contact is when they contact me for support first, or respond to my FB page.  I've found it extremely frustrating not being able to contact reviewers, especially those who write their problems and I know I can help them use the app properly if I could only contact them.

Re: My recently released apps

I will second that: How do you get in contact with your users?

I likewise have found it very frustrating when I get 1 star reviews, and I'm sure I could have solved the person's problem if they had only contacted me, etc.
