Native C/C++ SDK

When native C/C++ SDK will available for development? It would be really great if it comes with a IDE like QNX Momentics IDE or as a plugin for eclipse.

Re: Native C/C++ SDK

There has been no mention of a specific release date for the native SDK or the other unreleased SDKs. These forums and the developer blogs will be the first place to post about any releases. Till then stay tuned!

Re: Native C/C++ SDK

I just wanted to note that in the Need for Speed demo video that was just posted from Mobile World Congress, Mike Kirkup (Director, Developer Relations) just said (at 2:10) that they'll "be at the Game Developer Conference next month and we're going to be showcasing our Native SDK and telling developers about some of our timelines...".

Re: Native C/C++ SDK

This doesn't sound like a confirmation to me but they definitely sound pretty positive that a native sdk could be here by the end of the month.

Re: Native C/C++ SDK

Is the Native SDK only for games and OpenGL? Or do you all think it will be like a full blown Xcode with GUI components and all?

xcode is an Apple thing.  C/C++ has been around for a long time (C from the 1970s, C++ from the early 1980's).  I suspect that a GUI builder would not be a part of the initial release.  Anyone could use it if they need to get closer to the metal, but there is a "cost" associated with C++ in terms of GC, pointer references, memory leaks, etc.

Re: Native C/C++ SDK

Native SDK should probably be for anything you want to do with it....just like developing a PC application, etc. ...?unless someone else has more info?

Re: Native C/C++ SDK

Bump!

I was doing a search on Google for "playbook c++" and it had a link to this dev blog.  It had this quote, "The QNX team RIM acquired to develop our BlackBerry Tablet OS has won awards for its Eclipse-based native Integrated Development Environment (“IDE”)."  Any idea if this will include a plug in that for Eclipse?  I bought Flash Builder and it would be very nice if I could have Actionscript/MXML and C++ open in the same editor.  I'm going to post a similar question on the blog and cross my fingers.
