Re: SDK 0.9.4 released

0.9.4 Developer Guide (which I am sure everyone will read), only has the following application categories:

core.internet
core.games
core.media
core.utils

Getting kind of close to product release to have some key features not ready.

Anyway, thanks for the release RIM.  Hopefully this will resolve some key issues.

Recall that the simulator is a different architecture (x86) than the tablet (ARM), so it is not supported directly from the same code base.  Also there's probably a lengthy delay from the time the group supporting it has a release ready until they actually squeeze it through the corporate filtering layers to where we get our hands on it.  Also probably marketing people are still interfering, limiting what can be released prior to the announcement.  (We still assume there will actually be an announcement, right?)

As long as it's more stable than the last it's a good thing.

Note that the QNX build date on this is 2011-02-09, so don't expect any sign of anything seen after that time, and probably not even things seen for a while in demo videos before then.

(I'm very happy to report that basic audio capability, at least with SampleDataEvent, has been restored!)

And please, everyone, this time read the Release Notes before asking...

Yeah, and after all that troubleshooting in IRC this morning for THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE it gets patched. Irony.

When you set Dropdown.prompt, the drop-down list did not display correctly. (85315)

Re: SDK 0.9.4 released

0.9.4 SDK now enforces hardware permission.  You will need to update your blackberry-tablet.xml file for the following:

  • access_internet
  • access_shared
  • play_audio
  • read_geolocation
  • record_audio
  • set_audio_volume
  • use_camera

Re: SDK 0.9.4 released

As I mentioned earlier the only categories which are valid are core.games and core.media,

dev guide is not updated to reflect this yet

Re: SDK 0.9.4 released

wow, for all the issues 0.9.3 had, that is a really small list of issues fixed in 0.9.4.

Re: SDK 0.9.4 released

RIM:  Once our apps have been re-compiled, tested and signed for 0.9.4, do we update App World?

Pro: App World has the latest version.

Con: Will this slow down testing to those that have not been approved yet.
