I would guess that the OS will only kill off apps that have not be active for awhile in cases of resource constraints (e.g. memory).

I save state at deactive and low memory.  They call the same function.


Heck, you could have a timer to save state every minute if you wanted to.



there's also the option of saving data with Event.ENTER_FRAME.
