Signing Authority Upgrade - May 1st

On May 1st the signing authority servers are scheduled to be upgraded.  The upgrade is scheduled from 9 PM to 12 AM Eastern time.  There will be approximately 30 minutes of downtime during the upgrade.

This upgrade will remove the restriction that prevents an application with the same version from being signed multiple times.

Re: Signing Authority Upgrade - May 1st

Thanks for the heads up Mark.  Sorry if I'm out of the loop on this change but I'm just curious why the restriction is being removed, and under what usage scenarios it is desirable to sign the same version more than once.

Re: Signing Authority Upgrade - May 1st

I think what he means is that if you sign an application after changing it without changing the version number then it won't fail anymore. Say you are making changes to an application but you only change the version numbers when you actually release a version and not with every change you make. You can now make as many changes as you want without having to increment the version number each time.

Re: Signing Authority Upgrade - May 1st

CMY is correct.  BlackBerry World will still enforce a higher version number to be used for upgrades.  This mainly makes it easier for the testing phase.
