Hi, any ideas on when we can expect a useable StageVideo API? The current one breaks when I try and instanciate it. (QNXStageVideo breaks, regular StageVideo has no .stage property).
Also, any info on the supported codecs out of the box??

Like a lot of things you will probably have to wait for updates from BB, so that the sim will actually be even more like the real thing.

I can't give an exact date, but it is on the road map to be implemented.
As for the codecs, unfortunately we can't give a list of them quite yet, but it does/will support most of the common video and audio codecs that are used today.

Thanks for the updates. I know you have no set date, but would you expect StageVideo to be available prior to the release of the playbook?
Also, looking in the SDK I see a QNXStageVideo class, could you provide any clarification as to the purpose of the class vs the standard AIR StageVideo that will (I assume) be part of a future AIR Runtime update?
Just trying to get a feel for what types of apps and features we can target for day 1.

Unfortunately I can't confirm it, but I'm hoping that it will (with 4.5 support).
The QNXStageVideo class can be used in it's place, the reason that it's in the API (same reason that all of the UI controls are in the API) is because we needed to optimize them for the BB PlayBook, so we overwrote those UI elements that needed to be optimized. You can use that control to build your apps for day 1 so that you're not waiting on something that has no confirmed date yet.
Hope that helps.
