I was hopping to have found a solution by now for this but unfortunately I have not.
I am running VMWare Server (since it's free) and run the tablet OS on it. So far I can only do visual tests because I could never get the debugger to attach to it.
I know there are three connection methods: bridged, host only, and NAT. I want to be able to connect to the internet if one of my apps ever happens to need it so that knocks out host only.
At the same time host only doesn't give me an IP I can connect to to send the app to the simulator.
But the issue I am having is getting the actual debugger attached to the simulator. Localhost doesn't work (both name and 127.0.0.1). Passing in the IP of my computer doesn't work either.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is there something I should be doing to get the debugger to attach that I am not doing?

wat is the IP of your simulator when you are in NAT mode?

Generic IP (that never changes):

ok, in your debugger, put the HOST ip to 192.168.74.1 and it should be able to connect. thats the IP ur simulator sees your computer as all the time as long as the other octets stay the way they are (and they always do). let me know if that works for you. good luck!

Unfortunately that did not. I get the message in the simulator: "Unable to connect to debugger at address 192.168.74.1..."

hm strange. are you able to ping the IP of your simulator from your computer?

Do you have any other ideas as to what could be preventing the debugger from attaching?

sorry havent come up with anything. maybe the new SIM / SDK will fix the issue somehow. released today! good luck!

What what?... Sweet! I'll give it a try and cross my fingers.
