Vectors seem jagged

Hi Does anybody else think vectors seem jagged (not smooth) on the playbook. The quality on shapes an text just doesnt seem right. Any solution for this? Thanks

Re: Vectors seem jagged

Looks good to me. On the other hand, you didn't point out precisely what looks wrong, nor what resolution/scale/font etc that was. For all we know, the text looks exactly as it should.

Re: Vectors seem jagged

Where are you getting the text sample from, I've tried to see if the text is not Anti Aliased, and it is. The only time I've seen text like that is when it's not a vector font, but  a bitmap font.

Re: Vectors seem jagged

Well the text just doesnt look right.  Here is the same font outside of the playbook.

Here is the css:

.parentalEditText
{
    font-family: "GaramondPremrPro-Capt";
    font-size: 36;
    leading: 0;
    letterSpacing: 0.0;
    color: #000000;

    embed-font: true;
    anti-alias-type: normal;
    anti-alias-thickness: 0;
    anti-alias-sharpness: 0;
    grid-fit-type: pixel;
}

Re: Vectors seem jagged

Anti Aliasing is done at different levels, the more it's applied the better something looks however this comes at a cost, and that is processing time, remember (and this is all playbooks) Tablets are not PC spec, they have slow chips in them, so there has to be a compromise.

Re: Vectors seem jagged

The problem is that if things dont look good they wont get signed off.

For a diffrent test, I just rendered 50 balls onto screen and you can see they are just not smooth.  I wouldnt say its really bad, but its not perfect.

Thanks for your help anyway!

Re: Vectors seem jagged

What do you mean by "signed off"?  RIM certainly doesn't care what it looks like.

By the way, that font is not one of the fonts included on the PlayBook.  Are you including/embedding it yourself in some way?

He means he has a client who is not ok with sh!ty looking fonts...

Those fonts posted look far from 'ok' in my opinion, they look like garbage...

Couple things to check:
1. Make sure that the textField is set to "Antialias for Redability" if it's published originally from Flash IDE.

2. Try GPU Mode see if that helps

3. Try one of the system fonts
