What permission is required to write and store data on device?

Hi,

what permission is required to write and store data on a device?

I want to save some user preferences as a .xml file and encrypted data via encrypted local storage.

(On Android I used this one: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"/>)

Thanks! Smiley Happy

User preferences are typically stored with the app's data storage area, in which case, you do not have to set a permission level (protected sandbox).

If for some reason, you want to store data in the shared file system where any app has access, then you need to set:

<permission>access_shared</permission>

In the bar-descriptor.xml file

Awesome, thanks for your quick answer! Smiley Happy

A short question on <permission>access_internet</permission>

I want to send an email from my app. To make that happen, a .php file will get called on a server via https.

Do I need the access_internet permission to make it work?

If you just want to save the preferences, you should ideally use Shared Objects. It is fast and very easy.
