John, I think the subject of this thread suggests he has no idea, and is just asking.
@AppStoreLover, rest assured that dozens, if not hundreds of us, are closely monitoring every channel of information available and it will take only minutes at most before at least five of us will create duplicate new topics in this forum as soon as any concrete news or announcements show up.
Until then, it's safe to assume nobody who is able and willing to say anything has any more knowledge than you do.

@peter: I think john was poking some fun
Maybe, but I've found from almost 30 years in making posts to the net that it's best to take people at face value most of the time. In this case, both the original question and John's reaction look perfectly innocent to me.

As with what peter9477 said, you can never be certain on what is behind the words of a post or email. Just wanted to make certain that I did not miss something in regards to an SDK release date. At this point, looks like it wont be until after the new year to see something.

Is it possible to be notified when the simulator can play sound? My app relies on sound working, and if it doesn't the whole playback grinds to a halt, so I've given up for now, but am checking back in every couple of weeks. If there was a notification list I could join that, and then pick up whenever I get notified of a new release.

When a new release comes out, you will probably hear about here pretty quickly, along with all the new, odd and broken features of the update -- followed by sample code and work arounds. We're all in the same boat waiting painfully for an update to the SDK and simulator.

aside from the forums and the developer's blog ( http://devblog.blackberry.com ) another way to be notified of an update is via the SDK Update sign up page. the last time they updated the SDK we all received emails about it as soon as it was available. so that'll probably be your best bet. here is the sign up link:
