blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

Mysteriously last night, I am no longer able to use blackberry-airpackager with my simulator.

The following output results:

Things I've tried:

- Restarted the simulator.

- Double checked the simulator IP address.

- Restarted the computer.

- Tried the blackberry-airpackager command line for other projects. (exact commands with arguments which have always worked)

I'm kind of at a loss for what would be going on.

Re: blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

I'm still hamstrung by this error and can't do any AIR development.

I had forgotten about it and tried again tonight with a different project. Here's the sequence of what happens:

Re: blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

Did anything happen to your JRE install? Have you tried reinstalling the SDK? Have you always been able to use the E:? Does this happen with every app (Tried a helloworld script)?

Dustin

Re: blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

Hi, thanks for your response. My answers:

- No, nothing has changed with my JRE install. I had been using E:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7 successfully in the past.

- I did setup a new computer a month ago and switched to E: at that time, but I have been able to deploy fine using E: up until this started happening.

- As mentioned above, when this started happening, I copied and pasted the deploy commands I was using successfully for another app which I know to have worked only a few days prior, so yes, as far as I know this is happening for every app. I just tried a "Hello World" app and got the same error.

I will try re-installing the SDK and try again.

I wonder if this is somehow correlated with me installing certain BB10 tools?

I can see that being a very real possibility. What tools have you installed? Maybe try implicitly targeting the blackberry-tablet-sdk-2.0.0\bin folder.

Re: blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

I tried reinstalling the SDK and targetted the 2.0 SDK directory directly but get the same error.

Note that the following command works:

blackberry-airpackager -package OpenOnPlayBook.bar OpenOnPlayBook-app.xml OpenOnPlayBook.swf justback.png moreapps.png noButton.png headerButton.png login.png sync.png back.png blackberry-tablet.xml blackberry-tablet-icon.png

ie. I can create the BAR fine, it's just deploying it to the simulator that fails.

I'll try re-installing the simulator.

Re: blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

Oh ok. Make sure development mode is on Smiley Happy

Maybe try installing the .bar file using the Graphical Aid - http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Testing-and-Deployment/BlackBerry-Tablet-OS-Graphical-Aid/ta-...

Re: blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

After re-installing the simulator it is working again. Big sigh of relief.

Thanks for your help.

Re: blackberry-airpackager fails with: I/O exception (java.net.SocketException)

Awesome! Maybe even just resetting the simulator may help in the future.

Cheers,

Dustin
