So far I have ported one Android applicaiton to BB10 and it is working fine. It is based on client-server communication. However I have ported a new one, which is based on caching files and saving stuff to database which is performing great on average Andorid phones. However on BlackBerry Z10, which has excellent hardware it is very slow and laggy. I have suspisions one of the reasons is beacuse ported apps rely on Android 2.3. But any experience or help from Blackberry developers will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have recently ported an android app to BB10 and have found that client-server communications are very fast but while performing DB actions its very slow. I have optimized the performance using following methods -
You can also try for the same..

I just wanted to add that 10.2 has now gone Gold! With that, you will be getting the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 runtime which includes a load of improvements over Gingerbread.
I suspect that a lot of the performance concerns will be dramatically improved.

It is currently released by BlackBerry and you can pick it up through an Autoloader if you'd like to try it out.
As for when you can download it over the air, that is dependent on your carrier and when they finished verification and testing.
