Re: Calendar API - Insert is Weird and Cannot Query Calendar

The format for dtstart / dtend is probably key, are you sure you've got that data formatted correctly?

Could you perhaps post some sample code?

Re: Calendar API - Insert is Weird and Cannot Query Calendar

Got the calendar to show up, the formatting was the trickiest part to find with the right field name,

Start/End date format needs to be of the form yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss

So this code brings up the calendar with the right start time and date

SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss", Locale.getDefault());

Intent calendarIntent = new Intent("android.intent.action.EDIT");

calendarIntent.putExtra("dtstart", sdf.format(calStart.getTimeInMillis()))
.putExtra("dtend", sdf.format(calEnd.getTimeInMillis()))
.putExtra("title", calEvent.get("SUMMARY"))
.putExtra("description", calEvent.get("DESCRIPTION"))
.putExtra("start", calEvent.get("RRULE"));

This is great progress! Now if we could only get the RRULE field to work, I think we could call it success and a great day for everyone who is/will be in my shoes and your shoes.

Any hints for getting RRULE to work?

  • The dilemma is that the event being booked lasts, say, for 2 months, and every week on Friday at 10pm people can attend the event.
  • If someone was to book this event after the 1st month, with the current limitations that I'm facing, the event will be shown to start in the previous month because there is no recurrence RRULE to the event to repeat the date for the current month.

As you can see this is quite the dilemma. Any workarounds you can suggest?
