Re: Installing Android Apps to BlackBerry Playbook

There isn't anything to see until you install an Android application, so nothing to find.  Once you click on an icon for an Android application, it'll start in the player.  You need to install an application first.

Re: Installing Android Apps to BlackBerry Playbook

A little confused.  So you are saying the player is invisible?  I feel like I am in a chicken and egg discussion.

Re: Installing Android Apps to BlackBerry Playbook

Correct. The player is in the background and runs Android applications. Android apps are started the same way as an Air, Webworks or Native application, just click on the icon.

So you don't "see" the actual player, only the applications running in it.

Re: Installing Android Apps to BlackBerry Playbook

Does anyone else out there actually know the answer to this dilemma?

Re: Installing Android Apps to BlackBerry Playbook

The 2.0 beta is a developer release, meaning consumer features have been removed. It allows developers to deploy their applications from the development tools to get them ready in BlackBerry App World for the launch of 2.0 (BBX).

Once 2.0 is released to all consumers you will be able to download and install Android applications from BlackBerry App World like you can any other BlackBerry application.

Re: Installing Android Apps to BlackBerry Playbook

But above you said it would work if downloaded.  Does anyone else know the answer to this?

Re: Installing Android Apps to BlackBerry Playbook

What Slappy is trying hard to say (and has said) is that if you can't see the Android App runtime, how do you get your Android Apps onto the PlayBook to begin with to run? At least thats what Im wondering anyway.
You're saying to hit the android app icon to load the app and it will run, but we need to know how to get them onto the playbook to be seen in the first place. Any help with this would make life easier. Thanks!

You can find the steps for that here:  https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/documentation/deploying_signed_bar_file_1835001_11.html
