While I see it's easy to tweak an app for Blackberry with desired icons:
And we've done that before for one of our apps, but is there any way to do this so we only have to maintain a single code base for both Blackberry and Android markets?
Currently we maintain two entire sets of code, which is a pain, when the only difference is a few icons. We're aware of Eclipse libraries, but find it quite cumbersome to set up and maintain. We'd prefer to just have a single source code base - perhaps including the app icons in the BAR file or somewhere else? I don't think there is any way to change the icon in code, since I suspect the icon is pulled before the code even runs.
Another approach would use a unique res directory for the Blackberry icons, so everything can live together, but the Blackberry would have to know to check these special directories first..

As you noticed, this isn't possible to hook up programmatically due to the fact that the icon is set (from the manifest) on install.
I would suggest making a feature request at the link below since it is an interesting suggestion.
