NFC support for Android runtime apps?

Hi,

Would be interested to hear from BlackBerry advisors about plans for supporting NFC for Android runtime apps.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Re: NFC support for Android runtime apps?

I got an email from BlackBerry news updates saying that OS 10.3 Beta scheduled for May includes NFC support and already released! :-)  But can't find on your web site the place I can download it from, just 10.2 is available...

Any comments on that?

Thank you in advance.

Hey Olga,

You may have got word that our roadmaps have been updated [1], which now indicates that NFC is scheduled for May [2], however there is no publicly available beta.

And it is now available, with the new 10.3 SDK. They will officially support NFC now and a whole bunch of other details such as android 4.3

However, consumers won't be able to experience it, at least until year's end

Re: NFC support for Android runtime apps?

Thanks. I got it a try.

But it looks like the SmartCard API available for some devices in Android is not supported in 10.3 yet... :-(

Would be nice to know if BlackBerry is planning to add support for SmartCard API which is a reference implementation of the SIMalliance OpenMobile API specification.

Any info on this?
