Simulator installer fails in Linux

In Ubuntu Linux installer for the simulator fails with this message:

Installer User Interface Mode Not Supported

The installer cannot run in this UI mode. To specify the interface mode, use the -i command-line option, followed by the UI mode identifier. The valid UI modes identifiers are GUI, Console, and Silent.

If i try the suggested -i Console or -i Silent command line parameter, the failure persists and the output remains exactly the same.

This applies to all simulator installers, BlackBerry10 and Playbook. For BlackBerry10 I have downloaded and run the latest 6 installers, all with the same result.

What can i do in order to get the simulator installed?
