Updating the app...

Has anyone here updated their app with a new release yet? My app has been approved and I'm trying to determine whether I should post it now or do a quick update I've been meaning to do first before I post it.

I'm just wondering what happens when you add a new release to your app. Is it going to take weeks for them to approve it before you can post it with the new release tacked on? Or if they've approved a single product once, do they not check subsequent releases for the product? If it's going to put me back on the bottom of the stack of submissions and require that I wait another two weeks I'd rather just post it now.

This article is confusing because it doesn't seem clear where the time in the submission process is spent but it seems to hint that only when you first submit it does a internal review occur and when you submit a new release some automated reviews occur but not a strict internal review.

Re: Updating the app...

I submitted an update recently, a day or two after my app had been approved for the first time. It was only a minor update (no large feature changes) and it raised a "Release Approval Request" as opposed to the dual "Release Approval" and "Content Approval" requests for the original submission. This was resolved within a day. So, circumstantial evidence only, but a ray of hope for you Smiley Happy

Re: Updating the app...

So it's all done now and the release has been approved?

Did you add the new release before first posting it for sale or did you post it for sale first and then add the new release on?

Re: Updating the app...

Dredging my memory a bit as I did it very quickly as I was about to leave for work, but I believe my order of activity was:

7th March 03:45 - App approved for the first time
7th March 07:45 - I hit the "post for sale" button
7th March 08:10 - I submit new version, resulting in the release approval ticket
8th March 02:00 - Ticket closed, app updated in app world, no further intervention from me

Re: Updating the app...

New releases are typically approved within a day. Mind you, I've only submitted native PlayBook apps, not re-packaged Android ones, so YMMV.
