I spent so long trying to figure this out because Windows update ran right after BB Link install..
I only just guessed this is what happened and found this.
Any idea if BB is even aware of this issue?
Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given that this is a user-to-user community (and not an "insiders" site nor anything related to formal support), the only true indicator we can receive would be if there was a KB published on the matter...and I don't recall any such document. I also haven't had cause to test this recently, certainly not since the most recent version(s) of Link have been released, so I honestly don't know if it remains a problem or not.

I just installed (twice, to get it working) latest desktop software, which was Blend but thinking also includes Link? and my Epson Scan program stopped communicating with the scanner. Sure enough, if I stop the service "Blackberry Link Communications Manager", the Epson program works fine. I had thought this was fixed. Did it just come back, or have I had my service down all this time? Not sure - this could be why I had to install Blend twice, it wasn't working, maybe my service was down. Now that Blackbery Link Communications Manager is down, Bland has lost the connection.

Haven't really tested properly, but it seems as long as you shutdown the Blackberry service, then start up the Epson Scan, you can restart the Blackberry service and everything works.
