I have been trying to use remote file access with Link but the associated device is an old one which was returned under warranty to Vodafone serveral morths ago and the current device does not appear as an option in Link. I have deleted the old device from Link but it keeps reappearing as a disconnected device.

Are you using the same BlackBerry ID on your current BlackBerry smartphone that you are signed in to BlackBerry Link with? Was your previous BlackBerry smartphone also using this BlackBerry ID?
Can you also please let me know which model of BlackBerry smartphone you are currently using and what version of BlackBerry Link you have installed?

Yes I am using the same Blackberry ID. I have been using this for a number of years now.
I am using a Z10 STL100-2 and BlackBerry Link is version 18.104.22.168
