Of course, if you just came to rant, you've done that. You decide.

I am not trying to be coy but the software doesn't really give me any more details than what I have said.

I hook up my phone to my PC (Windows 7) and BB Link will recognize it.  I click back up.  It starts the process and just stops.  The error message is simply BackUp Did Not Complete which doesn't tell me ANYTHING I already didn't know.

Hence why I am so mad that BlackBerry didn't have the where with all in 2013 to include error codes.  If I had an error code I could look up something specific instead of wasting time tracking down leads to what is often a dead end.

I am at work, I don't have time for learning all the nuances about BB Link.  I just want to put an error code in google and see what other people have said about THAT specific issue.  BB Link doesn't support error codes just generic error messages (that don't spawn dialog boxes).

Ok, so to be clear, you're not looking for help here?

Or, if you are, have you:

--Before the backup, selected specifically ONLY the SETTINGS data to back up?

--If you have, does this backup fail also?

--Or, is this only when you are backing up ALL data, or the Applications Data?

I could care less about nuances myself as well. I do care that YOU be kind to the people in the forum who might like to help you. Part of being kind is including KNOWN details of what you're doing when you encounter the error, and what workarounds, etc., you've attempted.

I am obviously looking for help, but I certainly want to make it known how frustrating this is.  3-4 months in and I still can't use this software as it was "designed".  I don't need software to copy my pics, music, etc to my hard drive, I can do that with Windows vanilla install.  What I need is a means to back up my phone to protect my data.  This stie is hosted by BlackBerry so I am hoping this squeeky wheel will get heard.  BB Link not being able to back up is completely 100% unacceptible and really puts the device in a category far below Enterprise.  Even with my Torch 9810 issues, I could always back up, blow out my OS and reload.  At the moment I don't have that choice with Z10.

Granted I didn't use the best diplomacy, but I have been dealling with this issue for 3-4 months, waiting patiently for BlackBerry to resolve it.  So my apologies for any offense it wasn't directed at you (obviously) I am at my wits end with this software.

What really irked me this time was...

I removed ALL BlackBerry software from my desktop computer.

I ran CCCleaner which cleans up all files no longer in use by the system.

I ran CCCleaner's Registry Cleaner, which removes all the registry items no longer in use by the system.

Rebooted my system (which makes it clean from all BB Software).

I downloaded the copy of the lastest BB Link and installed it.

I click on the phone and I click Backup and I had to dig for the error message since BB Link doesn't seem to spawn a window to tell you something went wrong.  I saw the little Caution Trianle on the phone tab and it simply states: Backup did not complete.

So what exactly am I doing wrong?

I have this same issue on both of my PCs too (work and home).

Re: BBLINK!

I attempted to do a backup in Airplane mode someone somewhere said that would help.  That didn't help.

Re: BBLINK!

I don't care to be yelled and ranted at. I am not RIM.

You do this to people in real life and get respect?

Foolish people.

Could you answer my questions? The bulleted ones above?

In BlackBerry Link software I only seem a button for "Back Up Now", unless they have something buried I see no way to selectively backup specific data (like I could on the Desktop Manager).  I would had tried that if I saw the option.

If you can explain where that feature is in BB Link I will give it a shot, but I read BB Link didn't supprt that.

I am using the latest version I think, BB Link lacks an "about" page that would reveal that info. Smiley Happy

Re: For the Love of All Things (edited) -- FIX BB LINK!

With your #Z10 connected open Link.
Click on the #Z10 tab at the base of Link
Top right of the window click on the Settings icon with looks like a gear
Center of the screen unselect "all"
Select only Settings
Click to back up.

Try it.

I appreciate that you want to help me out and I have already apologized (as well as cleaned up some of my earlier posts).  I am not going to apologize for being livid about a sub-par product though.  It is in my right to be mad about something that is not working and last I checked that isn't an unusal human response. Please frame this in the proper context that I have been dealing with this issue for months now.  Today was just the straw that broke the camel's back because it was a new version of BB Link available.  I was personally offended that BlackBerry had not remedied this issue.

</end rant>
