New BB Link synch to Mac only goes one way - to the device

I downloaded the latest version of Link 1.1.1.33 and tried again to synch my calendar to iCal.  It made another copy of all the iCal appointments in the Q10 but did not synch the other way - Q10 to iCal nor did it compare to avoid duplication.  I would like an explanation on why the supposed two-way synch is only one way (and not at all helpful).  Like many others, I am shocked and apalled RIM would take an extra year to release the BB10 phones and still not have a working synch of the most basic functions of a smartphone.

Re: New BB Link synch to Mac only goes one way - to the device

Hey crombb,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for the question.

If you add a new entry on the BlackBerry Q10 and then try to synchronize, does it still not find any new entries?

Also make sure the default calendar is selected for the entries you want to synchronize:

  1. Go to the home screen on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings.
  3. Select Accounts.
  4. Select the  Set Default Accounts button at the bottom of the screen. The button resembles a set of boxes, one of which contains a check mark.
  5. In the drop down box under the calendar, select the desired BlackBerry Link account.
  6. Press the back button in the bottom-left of the screen to save the settings.

If it is selected on an email account, change it to device calendar and then attempt the synchronization.

Let me know if the issue still persists.

Cheers.

I did get the calendar to synch, and for that I am eternally grateful!

However, the address book synch is not working with the Mac, either way.  Can you help with that?

Hey crombb,

Thanks for the reply and I can help with the Address Book sync.

Is the address book synchronzing one-way or showing any errors?  I would also make sure the enable sync contacts feature is enabled.  Follow the steps below:

In the BlackBerry Link Software, while the device is connected:

  1. Click the devicename of the connected device (along the bottom of the BlackBerry Link window)
  2. Go to the Link Settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right
  3. Go to Synchronization
  4. Click the Set up Contacts Syncing button
  5. Enable Sync Address Book Contacts
  6. Ensure All Contacts is enabled
  7. Click Confirm

Click the Sync Contacts button to start the Contact Sync process

Let me know if the issue still persists.

Cheers.

Re: New BB Link synch to Mac only goes one way - to the device

Thanks.  The synch now works FROM the Q10 TO my Mac address book but not the other way around.  I do have synchronization set up from my Mac calendar to a Google calendar for household communication but I never add to it.  Could that be stopping the synch down to the Q10?
