Software Update Available (q10) - is this a known problem

Blackberry Link is reporting that there is a software update available for my Q10. It is showing release 10.1.0.2030 is available. But that version is already on my device. Is this a known bug that BB-Link is not verifying that the stated release is already installed on the device?

Hello,

Did you perhaps delete some of the pre-loaded apps? If you do, then they are re-pushed to you again in this manner. The better thing to do is create a "junk" folder and put them into that...then, you won't get pushed the update anymore.

This is similar to the "teaser icons" that legacy BBOS had...deleting them just resulted in them eventually getting pushed back out to the device again.

Good luck!

That is exactly right. I had deleted one of the pre-installed apps. I have moved the restored app into a folder of unused apps as you suggested. Disconnecting and reconnecting to BB-Link, is no longer indicating that a release update is pending. Thank you.

It is always recommended NOT to delete the pre-installed or native applications on your device as it may affect the performance of your device as well as the software. Make sure that before you perform the software update, you back up your data using the BlackBerry Link as this process may wipe your saved contacts (Address Book), calendar entries, tasks, memos, and messages on your device. Make sure as well that you have good signal or network coverage so the process will not be interrupted.
