Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

Thanks!!!

That'll be it - since 'god' gave me a brain I've not seen a need for many of those. Is there a solution to this?

God creates and gives us the ability to create many good things... even things you don't see a need for... like stock apps and fried chicken livers. But, I digress, much like this offtopic OS upgrade discussion in a "using Link to import Calendar and Contacts" thread.  Smiley Wink

The workaround is to stop deleting those stock apps. I created a folder on my Z10 and named it 'junk" and moved those apps into that folder. Then, I moved that folder to the last app icon panel out of the way so it doesn't clutter up my app icon screen I need up front.

heres a strange concept how about a phone # you can actually talk to BB about the Z10.  I haven't seen one.

Where have you looked?

Call AT&T. With your service with them, you've contracted with AT&T for device and technical support on the Z10. It's in the fine print, but you're paying them.

Raise the issue with them. Tell them you'd like the issue escalated up to BlackBerry technical support, you'll get an incident number and a phone number. You may have to demand this from ATT, sometimes they stick their heads in the mud.

Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

Regarding "PIM Backup and Restore" -- DON'T BOTHER trying it.

I bought and installed the app to use as a workaround to the missing "Blackberry Desktop" functionality, thinking that I could use it to easily and quickly delete my contacts and calendar entries and just re-export them from outlook periodically.

It is easy to use but it ain't fast.  It has taken over 2 hours to try to delete about 1800 records, and from what I can tell, it is only about 1/5th of the way done.

Looks like I'll be resetting my phone and starting over again.

Back to the drawing board...

To apfromm. You and I are on the same page, I thought that this might be a workaround to full sync. I've yet to jump into the zed water so appreciate your advice. Please update on the final outcome as I would be working with much less than 1800 records.

Thx. D

dwaynea - I gave up.  Won't use it.  Resetting BB now to re-export contacts and calendar from outlook via BB Link, then the experimentation continues.

Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

[ Edited ]

I'm a big believer in redundant systems so I also have an iphone 5. It syncs well with Outlook and am using that until BlackBerry Link is fixed. As mentioned I use one way Gmail calendar sync from Outlook to Gmail and after adding Gmail account on z10 the calendar items appear. I only add delete events on outlook but at least I have contacts and calendar on iphone and "Passive" calender on Z10.

If you want a wider forum to raise concerns consider signing up for seekingalpha.com which is free. It is a good forum for tracking bury, BUT the posts are routinely picked up on yahoo finance and other feeds. Your comments will receive a much much wider audience than this support forum can provide.

This info is given to all those who have asked for a wider audience regarding this dismal problem. Go to seekingalpha.com and search bbry to see posts which include discussion of stock as well as strength and flaws of z10.

Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

WARNING!!!   If you reset your phone for any reason, and you've already taken pictures or video and have sync'd the pictures or video, MAKE SURE TO RENAME THE DESTINATION DIRECTORY ON YOUR PC or the new pictures/video you take and sync will OVERWRITE THE PREVIOUS PICTURES/VIDEO.  When the phone is reset, so is the picture counter, so you will wind up with duplicate names and the Sync is not smart enough to realize there are files with the same name in the destination directory, and it stupidly overwrites them.  Please repost as appropriate in this forum for others to be warned.
