BB10 Remote Email search

I got the new Q10, I am still looking for the old way to remote email search (which was under "Advanced search").

This option was a valuable part of the BlackBerry experience in order to be able to always be able to access any emails.

Also, as part of the email experience, is it possible to keep an email for more than 30 days? I have used the blackberry link in order to migrate my old emails to this new device, but old my saved emails are not showing up..

Thank you in advance for the support.

I was a BlackBerry user since the 8330.

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

Hey jumassillia,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for the question.

Email search is available in the BlackBerry Hub, click on the magnify glass and click on the 3 dots for more options within the search.

My apologies, currently there is no setting in BlackBerry 10 to keep messages longer than 30 days.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers.

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

Thank you, this is a bit of a disappointment for what BlackBerry used to be (Email king).

Also, is there a way to get the airplane mode into the drop down easy settings menu or get the alarm clock to work if the device is fully turned off (as in older Blackberries).

Loads of little details that make the switch from 7.1 a little hard to get used to.

Thank you in advance

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

Hi,

I also wanted to ask about two more points;

1. I couldn't find a way to display the date of pictures taken

2. Selecting a phone number from a webpage becomes really hard to transition to a phonecall.

Pleas make some nightly builds and update those glitches, 2 years development is insane given the little yet very subtle details that make a device capable of communicating easier to work on a daily basis.

Thank you

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

Hey Jumassillia,

I was researching the keep emails issue a bit more.  In BlackBerry 10.1 the messages are kept forever and for Gmail accounts it is kept for 90 days.

What type of email account is added on the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone?

Also I appreciate your feedback on the pictures and phone number from websites.

I look forward to your reply.

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

Hi, thank you for your help.
I am currently using two Gmail email addresses.

Also, would it be possible to Sms/Email a person from the phone log?

Once a new person sends you an Sms, there is no way to select the new number in order to make some research about this new number.

Once a voice mail notification blinks, it is impossible to get rid of the icon, the only way to clear the notification is to check the voice mail.

Thank you for thé feedback about the email timing.

In a real world, does that mean I have to go through Gmail in order to retrieve older emails?

Thanks again,

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

Also, any lost of signal (internet signal) makes up for a sound and a notification in the Hub..there is no way to turn it off..So I had to turn off BlackBerry Protect for this matter or else it also rings every time I turn the phone in airplane mode..

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

Also, contact sync worked the first day, now it doesn't sync anymore,

Is there any way to help you by sending you a log file?

Thank you

Hello ViciousFerret,

when I am in the hub, and select my GMail account (connected through EAS (not BES10)), and click on the magnify glass, I have the blue form on top of the screen, with :

  • a button on the left to add some selector (From, Subject and so on)
  • the text input box
  • a cancel/search button

but I do not see any overflow button at all. Can you give more information on how to get to that 3-dot button please?

I have 10.0.1.xxxx on a Z10.

Re: BB10 Remote Email search

My apologies Xandrex,

When you press the magnify glass, click on the 3 lines in the top left corner and you'll have more search options.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers.
