I am seeking input regarding a specific issue that I have witnessed. This is specific to when Hotmail/Outlook.com is used as the "connector" between a BB10 device for Calendar and Contacts. I have witnessed random events where a Contact Item is deleted from Hotmail/Outlook.com, but the corresponding item is never removed from the BB10 device.
So far, Calendar synchronization seems to not fail. But, for Contact items, there seem to be these random failures, and they always are for deletions and always in the one direction -- when the item is deleted on Hotmail/Outlook.com, it is not deleted from the device.
Please reply in this thread if you have witnessed this exact behavior so that we can properly gather citations to this specific issue.

PS -- of note, I have also witnessed the same deleted Contact failure with the PlayBook...a different Contact item, but the same behavior (fails to delete on PlayBook, even though properly deleted on Hotmail). If you have also tried this integration with a PlayBook and have experienced the same behavior, I would be interested in those responses as well.
PPS -- I have noticed that sometimes synchronization just stops between the devices and Hotmail/Outlook.com. If you witness this AND have it integrated as PUSH, try turning that OFF and substituting a 15 minute interval for that account on your device. While not optimal if you are using it for email, it nevertheless seems to cure most of the Calendar/Contact synchronization issues for me (although this remaining random failure continues).

I have found the exact same thing. For calendar entries, the syncing between Outlook.com/Hotmail and BB works just fine, regardless as to where the calendar entry is added/changed/deleted. However, here are my findings regarding contacts:
1) I added a contact on the BB and it synced to Outlook.com/Hotmail
2) I added a contact in Outlook.com/Hotmail and it did NOT sync to BB. (I tried a second new contact in Outlook.com /Hotmail and this new one DID sync to the BB.)
3) I deleted the contact (added in step 1) via Outlook.com/Hotmail, and it did NOT delete (sync) from the BB.
4) I deleted the contact (added in step 2 - 2nd new contact)) via the BB and it DID delete (sync) in Outlook.com/Hotmail.
Thus, there is no consistency in the Outlook.com/Hotmail - BB contact sync process.
Interesting. Okay, so I was puzzled why sometimes I can add a conact via Outlook.com and it will sync to the BB and sometimes I cannot. I tried it again, but this time went back into Accounts, selected the Outlook.com account set up on the BB and toggled "Sync Contacts" off and on, and then saved the settings. Went back into the BB Contacts folder and the new contacted added via Outlook.com now appeared. However, doing the same thing (i.e., making some change to the Account setting on the BB) does not affected deletes (i.e. added on BB, appeared in Outlook.com, deleted in Outlook.com, toggled BB Account settings). The contact deleted in Outlook.com did not delete from the BB after this "toggliing." Very puzzled.

As a PPPS to my original post, please check, on the Z10, both Contact Lists...both the "All" as well as the list shown for the integrated sync account.
The "All" list on the Z10 may continue to show the deleted item (no matter how long you wait), but the Contact list for the integrated account may have processed the deletion, and it will not be on that list...the two on-device lists will be out of sync.
The behavior is the same on the PlayBook (create on PB, delete via Outlook.com, item does not delete from PB), except that there is no ability to view other than the "All" Contact List (contrasted to how you can view on the Z10). Hence, there is no ability to see that the two on-device lists are out of sync...but you should see that the deleted item remains on the PB.

No matter which contacts sync I use, it's a challenge. I know it has to do with the link function on the Z10/Playbook. You need to separate the contact on the BB and then delete the local contact on the BB so only the synced contact remains. The problem is that no matter which sync service you use, some problem remains. I've used Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com and others. And the problems are different depending on which sync you use.
It's so befuddling. If there was some consistency in the issue, then I could figure it out. However, the problem is different depending on which sync I use.
More testing tomorrow. I'll post results.
