BBM video chat doesn't work for me...

So, this will be a rather long posting, as I have been trying other avenues to correct.

 

On Z10;

 

Haven't tried to use until recently, so I really don't know how long I've had this problem. I don't get a video button to push while in BBM. Also, when I go to BBWorld and My World list, click on BBM I get "Unavailable for this device" message. I went to AT&T's site and had the following conversation. Any help would be appreciated?

Brian Baldock: I understand you are having trouble using bbm video chat and are unable to update the BBM app on the phone?

steve: yes

Brian Baldock: Ok, in a situation like this I would recommend contacting Black berry for help troubleshooting the issue, as Att has limited support for their BBM applicatoin. Blackberry can be contacted at 1-877-255-2377  

steve: I understand that it's not a BBRY problem and that it's ATT that's blocking my abilities here.

Brian Baldock: I show that video calling is enabled on your line, and we wouldn't have a way of blocking you from updating an app thru blackberry

Brian Baldock: But What exactly is the error you get when you try to use video chat?

Brian Baldock: Are you still in this chat session with me?  

steve: I don't receive an error while in BBM, but it doesn't show the video chat button. When in BBWorld, and attempting to update BBM, I get "Unavailable for this device". That is usally the message, received, when ATT or any other company is blocking some type of service.

steve: Maybe you can explain this? What are the differences between the $65 DataPro 5GB plan and the $50 plan. The same question on the two 3GB plans? One is $45 and one is $30??

Brian Baldock: Ok, then you need to contact blackberry , to see what can be done to get the update, as again we do not block particular apps from updating.

Brian Baldock: Sure, the differences is the higher cost plans are enterprise data packages, for access to emails on exchange servers.

Brian Baldock: What other questions or concerns can I assist you with?

steve: Nothing, thanks for your help, but I know that the companies do block things, like I am not able to turn off 3g, yet other companies do allow this in their versions of os's.

Is your BBM contact also using Blackberry 10 Devices?
They must be on Blackberry 10 Devices also to use BBM Video Chat

Are you currently using their "mobile share plans?"
It seems like that one requirement for FaceTime on iOS. to work.

No mobile share plan, but he did say that video calling is in my plan.

This is what the article here claims you need mobile share plan to work.
It shows it will work fine over wifi.

Have you try using it with wifi only??

Yes, only on wifi.

 

Believe me, I know how to use it. Why the message on BBWorld "Unavailable for this device"?? I can only assume it's ATT blocking, but look at the conversation. Maybe he just doesn't know what he's talking about?

Do you have the latest OS installed?
